National Conference: Jonathan got talent

I was travelling in a public transport today and as usual, discussions came up concerning the proposed national conference by the Jonathan government.what i observed from the heated arguments among the passengers was the almost unanimous decision that although the idea was good, jonathan was not trusted to convene it.
To many nigerians, president jonathan was insincere and being overwhelmed by various problems ranging from PDP issues,Boko Haram insurgency, oil theft, financial scandals and many more.jonathan has not an inkling on how to solve these problems hence the devious distraction of convening a
national conference.
Now what is your candid take on the proposed national conference?

Penetrating Northern Nigerian Markets

It never cease to many amaze me when i saw many companies and manufacturers trying to introduce their products and services to the northern Nigerian markets through various promotions, adverts and setting of various competitions without understanding the basic psychology of the average northener.that is why many of such campaigns failed to make any meaningful impact.
The people of Northern Nigeria are extremely conservative.they highly value and cherish their culture and traditions to the point of fanacitism.this is not peculiar to the muslims but even the christians of the region.religiously, northerners are frankly more catholic than the pope. for instance, the people of the north still preserve their mode of dressing even while travelling, you will see a Hausa man in a london street on a cold winter morning still donning his traditional kaptan and cap.so when i see bank executives in suits looking for customers in the scorching sun of northern villages,i pity them because i know the futility of their efforts.if you want to appeal to an average northener, dress as he dresses and liase with his traditional and religious leaders.

Today is the Arafat day

Today is the Arafat day! arafat is the most important rite of Hajj and muslims who are lucky to participate in Hajj are expected to be present at the plains of Arafat from dawn to sunset.according to the Prophet(SAW) 'Hajj is Arafat'. any pilgrim who loses this important rite has automatically loses his Hajj.pilgrims are expected to spend the day praying, reading the Qur'an,remembering the name of Allah and atoning for all sins.Muslims who have not participated in Hajj are strongly recommended to fast the day as it 'expiate for the sins of a whole year'!
Standing at Arafat symbolises what the Prophet (SAW) performed 1426 years ago where he performed the farewell pilgrimage.it was there he delivered the most historic sermon ever where he said that 'all nations are one, there is no distinction between an Arab and a non-Arab, white or black and the most honourable in the sight of Allah is the most pious, women are the companions of men and should be treated kindly,it is forbidden for a muslim to shed the blood of another and people must keep away from injuring the reputation, property and integrity of others'.among other memorable exhortations.
The Arafat also symbolise another important lesson that people af all ages and races will stand before Allah on the day of reckoning and account for all their worldly deeds hence everyone should try to do worthy deeds he could satisfactorily defend in the Hereafter.

Breaking news: Jonathan meeting nPDP

Reports reaching us just now indicated that President Jonathan is in the midst of a meeting with some of the governors of the new PDP at the Aso Rock villa.
The meeting held at the behest of President Jonathan was to agree on a future date for more broader negotiations between him and the 'rebel' governors since most of them are now in Saudi Arabia for the Hajj.
Honestly, do you think Jonathan will accede to their demands or the governors may later backtrack?

Haba Asuu! be merciful

This is a passionate call to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of Nigeria to sheath their swords and return to classrooms in the interest of millions of hapless students who are idling away at home for four months.an idle mind is a criminal mind, they say. think of their future, their ambitions and aspirations, many fought tooth and nail to got admitted only to be frustrated by this strike.forget about these clueless politicians.there children are all studying abroad where they will graduate in no time and come back to corner all the 'lucrative jobs'.
Moreover, employers of labour have devised various means of edging out poor Nigerian graduates.to be eligible for a job;you should not be more than 25 years, must have NYSC discharge certificate........etc. for God's sake, how could somebody who spent seven years for a four year programme be able to satisfy all these requirements?
        Think ASUU, think!

Nigerian tribes & mutual distrust

Nigeria is surely a state but it will be definitely ages before it became a nation. The mutual distrust that exists among various tribes will continue to be a cog in the wheel in our progress.
Whenever i browsed various Nigerian blogs and forums i observed that people of a particular tribe have a derogatory name which they call another tribe and vice-versa.for instance, the people of the south usually call the Hausas as the abokis (meaning uncivilized or novices) and the yorubas usually refers to Igbos as greedy people who will do anything for money.the Hausas also are guilty for its they who termed the Igbos as inyamurai (starved of water).
For Nigeria to really tow the path of development,we must eschew the path of tolerance and mutual respect for each other.we have no other country!

poverty is the greatest antithesis to development

                                                       President Goodluck Jonathan

Poverty among Nigerians is increasing at endemic proportions and especially in the north. most policies aimed at eradicating poverty are hampered by politics, ill-timing of programmes and the usual problem of corruption which has became institutionalised.

Whenever i enter a University and notice the teeming population of students all aiming to graduate and join the bandwagon of job-seekers, my heart bleeds because i know the frustration of seeking job in a jobless Nigeria.to me, the best way out of this quagmire is in aggressive cultural change, enterpreneurship changing the purpose of education.
what do you think should be done to initiate this cultural change?
